diagram: tabletop product shots

Soft overhead sources aren’t just for Hollywood fight scenes, they’re a great starting point to getting your product looking great for your website!

summary

In order to build this scene, an Aputure LS 600D Pro was boomed in on a baby boom arm over the table and fitted with a 2’x3′ softbox and grid. A bead board adds some much-needed fill to the side of the boot.

This isn’t necessarily a bad image already, but I felt like it could still use a few pops.

I wanted to add some pop to the eyelets so a Nanlite 6″ tube with grid was placed vertically off to camera right on the table.

A Nanlite mini-LED placed opposite the tube gives a nice rim light to the boot and helps separate it from the backdrop. This is most evident in the highlight that appears on the toe and at the top of the tongue of the boot.

Lastly, the toe of the boot needed some attention so a second Nanlite mini-LED was placed there to reduce shadows.

There you have it! A relatively simple setup to get your next product shot looking phenomenal!
