diagram: ‘margarita werewolf’ – interior bar two shot
There once was a G&E team,
Who used cutters to shape their scene.
When using a beadboard and spotlight,
They place a flag to control spill of light,
And create a mood that’s serene.
summary
My key for this one was an @aputure.lighting 300d w/ spotlight unit bounced into a beadboard placed above and on the far side of the talent. This is a great way to bounce soft light back to subjects without putting heavy equipment near them. The spotlight system isn’t 100% efficient in directing light forward so make sure to put a flag underneath the beam to control the spill on the talent. (shoutout @jpmontoulieu
for pointing this out to me!)
A couple @quasarscience double rainbows help create separation between the talent and the rest of the scene. The grids keep the light on the backs of the talent that each light is behind and off the face off the opposite side talent.
A @litepanels gemini 1×1 casts a green hue to a back room because we’re in a vintage video game bar, and an @aputure.lighting infinibar pb12 adds a blue hue to the back of the scene directly beyond the talent.
A hearty thank you to my G&E team for this short film, couldn’t have done it without you guys. Brandon and Teej, I look forward to working with you on set again soon!
