summary
An Aputure B7c acts as the motivation for an Amaran F22c to be the key light off frame. The F22c needed to have a grid as well as be elevated enough to reduce spill onto the practical light source itself.
One tip I’ve got for positioning the F22c is to replace the Aputure proprietary socket on the back with an industry standard 3/8″ socket. This enables magic arms or knuckle heads to be used to articulate the positioning of the F22c much more easily than the proprietary Aputure stuff. (see photo 5)
A 4′ Quasar RR100 fills in the background of the shot with that blue moonly tone (210°, 80% saturation, 5600k), and a 2′ RR50 provides an edge light to the subject in the same color. The RR100 was aimed at the ceiling to reduce shadows from direct light hitting the background.
An Aputure 60x with barn doors shines through a cello cucoloris to give the background some texture and act as moonlight. (photo 6)
Lastly, a floppy provides shape to the subject and the cutter outside keeps the 60x from adding a highlight to the door frame.
